Chromazones

July 21 – September 10, 2023

Analog Diary is pleased to present Chromazones, a group show exploring artists’ use of color in two and three dimensions. Color, as a basis of perception, demarcation, and distinction of forms, and of formal understanding, underpins the basis from which all of the artists in this show guide their visual energies. From the mythical imagery of Eugene Von Bruenchenhein, Yukine Yanagi, and Tamara Gonzales to the varied approaches to formal push, pull, and play in Emma Soucek’s, Julia Rommel’s, Pam Glick’s, and Kennedy Yanko’s works, Chromazones describes that chromatic exploration and engagement is vital to a collective visual experience. In engaging this group of works, a viewer experiences the myriad possibilities achieved through color - painted, drawn, poured, and sculpted alike - and is encouraged to draw unexpected throughlines between diverse practices.
Artists: Latifa Alajlan, Polly Apfelbaum, Michael Berryhill, Eugene Von Bruenchenhein, Julia Chiang, Martha Clippinger, Holly Coulis, Pam Glick, Tamara Gonzales, Clare Grill, Alteronce Gumby, Marcia Hafif, EJ Hauser, Chris Martin, Andrew Masullo, John McAllister, Dan Miller, Ken Price, Julia Rommel, Michelle Segre, Peter Shire, Cary Smith, Sylvia Snowden, Emma Soucek, Tracy Thomason, Yukine Yanagi, Kennedy Yanko.
